Quick Start

This tutorial will guide you through building your first TAVP application.

1. Create a Model

tavp make:model Post

This creates app/Models/Post.php:

2. Create a Migration

tavp make:migration create_posts_table

Edit database/migrations/xxx_create_posts_table.php:

return new class extends Migration
{
    public function up(): void
    {
        Schema::create('posts', function (Blueprint $table) {
            $table->id();
            $table->string('title');

            $table->timestamps();
        });
    }
    
    public function down(): void
    {
        Schema::dropIfExists('posts');
    }
};

Run migration:

tavp migrate

3. Create a Controller

tavp make:controller PostController

Edit app/Controllers/PostController.php:

    public function index()
    {
        $posts = Post::all();
        return view('posts.index', ['posts' => $posts]);

4. Add Route

Edit routes/web.php:

$router->get('/posts/{id}', [PostController::class, 'show']);

5. Create View

Create resources/views/posts/index.volt:

{% block content %}
<h1>Posts</h1>

{% for post in posts %}
<article>
    <h2>{{ post.title }}</h2>
    <p>{{ post.content }}</p>
</article>
{% endfor %}
{% endblock %}

6. Test

tavp serve

Open http://localhost:8000/posts
